I completely embrace the idea that we need to be strong in all three areas of wellness—physical, spiritual and emotional—in order to be healthy. I think we focus on the physical first because it’s more concrete, easier to measure, whether it’s the number on the scale, how clothes fit, energy levels, etc. Spiritual Wellness is so personal and internal. For some, a spiritual life might be an afterthought until we face a crisis. For others, it’s as routine as brushing your teeth every day. But Emotional Wellness, well, sometimes it’s just hard. It gets pushed to the bottom of our long “to do”/”should do” lists. Yet, I believe it’s the most important of the three. If we’re not emotionally healthy, it’s tough to find the motivation/inspiration to work out, make healthier food choices, create time to pray or mediate, let alone find the energy to repair a broken relationship,
